Hey y'all , As you all know I have a hvy planted and stocked community tank with guppy , harlaquin rasbora and cherry barbs . On bottom a bristlenose and a plain placo also a unkown algi eater and my ADF's . Ill leave the shrimp out of this as they are not involved in the problem . I have a few well to be honest most of my fish in this tank are old fish that I have had for ever raised from fry or juvies to what they are now . Well heres the deal , as of late 2 of my original female guppys and the bristlenose placo have become "badazz" fish ,. When up untill the last fry my blacktail had she has always been a sweet good natured fish , now shes a food hog !? Her and another half black tequila female have teamed up and have gained a few micros literally . The bristlenose is the exact same .. The 3 of them go into shark mode when I feed my frogs Never have untill the last fry was had I dont understand it . But I cant stop it either , it has cost me 3 adf's lives I am sure thats what killed them was not getting enough to eat while I made sure they got some I guess it wasnt enough I dont know but if it wasnt the food then what ? The bristlenose attacks ? I am sure its not illness as the other 2 frogs would have sufferd the same fate right ? But the 2 guppy girls eat like frenzied sharks at meals and they hoover the bottom in between meal times ..they both look gravid but no spots. what gives ? can they be pregnant without the gravid spot , I have never seen that b4 ? Any way I just wonderd if anyone else had a longtime tank that one day a few inhabitants just changed or broke bad for no reason ..

Unless their spot is black then their pregnant, maybe you can't see it...

Has the tank temperature gone up ? I feed my ADFs TopFin Frog, Newt & Tadpole Bits. They share a tank with platies, dwarf gourami and otos. The frogs are the only ones that can / do eat the bits. I try to feed different types of food for different types of creatures so that they all are more likely to get their fair share. I can see where the pleco would try to eat anything you threw in there though.

Tank temp is the same , I was about to raise it and start the rain season water for spawn kick in . What I mean by that is I simulate the natural spawning times or season for my fish by raiseing the temp and when I do water changes I use a garden jug to add the new water the kind with the sprinkler looking spout on it , this simulates rain to the fish and helps throw them into spawn mode . As for the gravid spots - One of the fish is a true half black female and I cant tell if she has it or not due to her color but its past her due date by over a week if she is ...the other female is a half black tequila sunrise and her gravid spot should be visable but isnt showing . I feed the same , flake food for top dwellers and middle level swimmers ( omega flakes) I feed the tadpole bites same as you for the ADF's and I use tetra algie waffers for the placos and shrimp . When I spawn as well as once a week I treat the tank to live food either bloodworms or glass worms . I dont understand the new aggression from the BN placo very odd I have never heard of this and dont know what to do I really have a attachment as well as the rest5 of my family does as well to the BN and dont know what to do , if it doesnt calm down though I will be forced to rehome him / her not sure of sex though from the whiskers or bristle formation I would guess female.

Charlie, sounds like it's time for the BN to go into the badazz tank. You know better than me but, I thought when live bearers got that real squared off look they were getting close. I'm raising platies against my will. I've deliberately put fish in the tanks with them that I thought would eat the fry. Instead, they just swim up to them and say hi.

The vast majority of them are at least half grown, so I think I need to find someone would needs some live food for their Oscars.

They look like orange and black clones. I don't look at them that much because I'm disgusted that there are so many of them taking up space. My wife thinks they're cuter than hell and worries about them.
