I dont know if many know this or not but golds are vegitarians mostly , as such if you want them to really do well you need to add live plants to your set-up . Alot of us do this for water quality and enviroment for the fish but golds actually need it for a food source or a buffet if you will . They really like water sprite , egeria , cobamba or the like . Also supplement with zuchini , romaine lettuce , broccoli a couple times a week will greatly increase the health of your golds . But remember to always blanch the veggies ( 20 seconds in microwave ) this helps to break down the fibers . Alot of people I know say spirulina algaepellets are good a few times a week for them . And remember also that golds have a relatively short digestive tract so even though they are lil beggers dont give in to them , feed them very small amounts numerous times rather than trien to fill them up at a feeding cause you wont be able to and will end up hurting them on accident . These guys will eat till it hurts them , So its hard I know to say thats enough when they act like they are starving but you / we have to be the good parent / care giver / owner whatever you call yourslef in relation to your fish '' I'm dad'' to fish an kids an dragons an lizards an frogs an dogs an oh you get the picture . Hope this was use full to some

My goldfish eat duckweed like no tomorrow. Since I found that out, I can't keep it. Before that, I couldn't get rid of it. Go figure !
