Thanks your fishpal, Dan

I like the appearance and behavior of most of the live bearers. Their color is typically solid and doesn't depend on the angle or reflection of light. Currently, I don't have any interest in breeding them. That being said, I now have a 55 gallon tank full of platys that resembles a feeder fish tank at a pet store. I feel bad but, I just don't have any place to go with them. LFSs are few and far between around here and the chains don't want them. I have bred most live bearers in the past and have found that quality food, especially live in the form of brine shrimp helps get the parents in proper breeding condition. Also, I have never used breeding traps. Given plenty of cover with live plants, the survival rate for the fry is very good and it is definitely better for mom. It is really only a matter of days before the fry are too big for a snack.

Well I guess you already know my favorite live baerer . lol Im a guppy kinda guy . I have been breeding guppys and mollys for awhile with very diffrent out comes with diffrent setups . Guppys - As a species the genetics are so polluted from the commercial fish farms inbreeding its a gamble when you get them . If however you do get a good batch they are very colorful with flowing fins and out of all the fish I have ever had they have the most personality . My originals will come to my hand if I am working on there tank literally like puppys lol they will swim against my hand much like a cat will rub your leg . Also they will eat from my hand ( live blood worms ) . I do add api aquarium salt to the guppy tank annually with every water change even though its frowned upon and looked at as a medication . Guppy is a brackish fish alot of ppl dont know this but they are naturally . They have been adapted to freshwater . The aquarium salt helps to fight of bacteria they couldnt usually as the bad genetics has left them with low ammune systems . I have my originals in my south asia swamp tank with ;; harlaquin rasbora '' an ''cherry barbs'' a bristlenose placo and glass shrimp also a few varietys of snails . And all spwn and raise fry naturally . I do have a breed box but its only used if I spot one I feel just has to make it lol . I would suggest the api aquarium salt to anyone that has guppys and has trouble with them or not , however I dont follow the directions on dosage . I put or add rather about a quarter of what it calls for . Since I started doing this I havent lost a single one .

Great info, Charlie. Have you thought of developing your own strain, or is that bad for them ? I'm thinking of adding some to my 20 gallon; however, I'm not really looking to have them multiply at this point. What is your opinion on having males only ? Thanks.

Hey Frank , I am working on that right now actually lol , picking from my fry each time for the future fry trying to decide which traits to keep to try to inhance while also trying to be original ...not easy with this breed at all , but I love them . I am looking oon all the auction sites for new traits in breeders tht are up for sale also seeing whats hot in the market . Lucky for me blue seems to be a big hit ! Thats the main color I have been sticking with as a constant . I have been crossing tequila sunrise and blue half blacks and have just now started to get stable constant results from it . I liked the idea of the yellow and blue with a touch of orange or pink here and their . I have incorperated the snake into the mix with this breed time . Im trying to decide a name for them " glass angel snakes " or "daybreak snakes " whatcha think ? You like either of them ? The blue and yellow reminds me of glass reflections and the endlers spots are the reason for the snake , the spots are a good seller as well as they look awsome they give the fish that lil touch of detail like a zebras stripes no two are the same where as many common color guppys are identical . While still a beautiful fish , in show and sells the details matter . When you get ready to go guppy in your tank let me kow budd I will hand pick you some of my very best the originals of the line thus you'd be helping me spread and strengthin it as well . We would be helping each other youd have one of a kind guppys lol thats saying something for this fish lol . Just ask you one thing if you get them ..please dont polute the line only house them with others like them as far as guppys are concernd I want to keep them a pure as possible for as long as possible to try and make a name for them and myself in the fish world . Thats a dream anyway ... kinda far off I know but it could happen ;D

I like daybreak snakes...thinking a shorter name is easier to remember and angel might confuse people. Just my thoughts. How about sunrise snakes ? It plays off of daybreak and you get those two S's together. The snake skins have always been my favorite. I'm sure you'll do it. You have the knowledge and the will.

I like the name daybreak snakes , What about you Dan ? The exacts are Adrian terqouise half black HD's and Tequila sunrise , I incorped a pair of leopard tails females in hopes of strengthing the snake skin . I like the spots or snake skin as well and I find it odd that most really like it , I say that because it has to come fom a hybridazation at some point down the line and most seriouse fish lovers are strongly against that . But in my defense of guppys the endlers were considerd guppys untill a few years ago and still now are the third strain of guppys in classafication . I think its very uniqe of the guppy that it will survive and adapt to the point of spawning with other species to ensure its future survival , most fish wont even socialize with others let alone breed . All in all live baerers are a much more communal fish more social more adabtable they are just more ...People always say how common they are ..Everyfish in your tank is common unless your a marine biologist or something a species is a species the choices we make when breeding them is ours to make if we enhace or destroy but our decisions affect the representation of the fish forever such as what were talking about now . Guppys are common but you can get very uncommon look up a "moscow" any color but true are solid black , beautiful fish very rare . I saw a beautiful fish last night I attached to this post , hopefully it will arrive safely and add that spark to my line I so despratly want the signature if you will .The delta grass snak guppy are also beauts just the local petstore wont have these lines so people dont even know what guppys really hold for them as a species . I have a couple males that are breath taking they have super HD trait and tail fin to with half solids color and the moscow fin edge . Attachments:

The only reason I don't have guppies and have never had many of them is that my tanks have always been a little rough for them. Didn't want to see those beautiful fins ripped up. I think they're probably the king of tropicals because they kind of started the whole thing.
Charlie, I think you need to put your family name in there somehow. Rhodes Daybreak Snake. I like it !

Absolutly Dan , I want any fish you and Frank can supply me with . If things go wild and I can open other store in the future I will need people to run them in areas that I can trust with the care of the store and its inhabitants as if it was their own and should as it will be a percentage lol. This is my retierment plan . Been thinking about making the buisness a corporation of sorts like a co-op of small time fish owners and breeders . Its alot of paperwork but I think it will be rewarding to myself as well as the common hobbyist involved in the co-op . I will base where the new store will be opened by online sales . My wife suggested that we open online to see where we would do best before e put all our fish in one tank so to speak .

Charlie, I think that setting up a trusted email network would be a great way to start. As soon as you get a storefront or an online domain set up, Uncle Sam steps in and sucks up the profits and fun. I know it's a slow approach but, it's a way to get your feet wet and learn your market without taking a bath in expense. I had a business once and the worst thing I did was to be too "legal" too soon. If the black helicopters are flying around, I didn't say this.
