Hey y'all , I have a bn placo that I got from wal-mart lol it was in with the plain placo babbies I didnt know what I got till it matured and the bristles started showing up , me an my wife were worried at first thought are new baby was deformed lol . But since you know the history of ''Al'' fishes name < I am trying to find out if any ne else has issues with these guys being aggresive ? I am having problems with this one all of the sudden . He has killed 2 of my ADF's I witnessed one right when he did it ! I was shocked to say the least . And teritory isnt the reason either . He sleeps and hangs out in a medium sized castle with a cave under it on the opposite side of the tank . But when its feeding time for the frogs , here comes Al charging them . He rammed and rolled one tonight till it died in front of me ...I was tapping the glass trying to get him to stop and b4 I could get a net to him it was done and the frog "sanatra" was gone . Has anyone else ever had an aggresive bristlenose placo ? Just tryin to find out if this is normal or what ? I have raised Al from a baby but he cant stay in the big tank if hes gonna be a hard case ...I have other tanks for hard cases .

I have read that they become territorial at spawn times , but like I said the attacks are on the opposite side of the tank from his/her lair or den . Its very odd to me .... I havent had trouble from the fish ever .. And I have always had a couple frogs .. The changes are as follows Added a second placo ( plain not bn ) added 3 more frogs added a unkown algai eater looks like a loach kinda and is an aggresive eater he will be removed when I change subs , I cant catch him now with out tearing my plants apart he is super fast and smart . But he chases other fish alot I dont like him ...but I cant flush him so hes goin in the bad azz tank with others of his nature . I love this tank as much as the peacefull tank but its just a little rougher population for those Ive bought or been given that dont like to share space . I thing everyonne needs one of these tanks ..

Well, the poor little ADFs are all but defenseless. I think that plecos have a reputation of being peaceful because they can't catch much. They can catch ADFs. I'd separate them asap.

I am seperating . I cant figure out why he or she is attacking the newest frogs and not the old ones though ? its like it can tell them apart . the original frogs were in tank before the bn placo and it doesnt bother them but the new ones are gone now

Maybe because they are hiding more?

Many fish go after new additions also. I think they can tell them apart. One of those instincts that animals have that we lost a long time ago. I guess it's a good thing we did.

I find that my Platte wont attack my guppies, but once I get almost identicle ones they go bye bye.
Although it is cool that they know the difference

Well the BN is doin the same ole thing in his new tank ..I put him in with the betta and hes chaseing or more like charging rather as its just bursts towards the betta , but the BN is charging the betta he cant catch him to do any harm but Im sure its streesin out the betta . He is a very curious fish ( the betta) and wll swim up to any and everything in the tank an say hi with out any thought or aggression hes a very good betta fish .

Sounds like he needs a new home again. Maybe some good sized semi-aggressive tank mates.

I have had it .. Okay wich of you guys wants a bn pleco ?? Shes beautiful dark with very white spots and clear golden eyes has a white tip on top of her dorcel . Never saw one like her before . Shes mature and ready to spawn aparently very ready but I cant house her anymore I dont have a tank she can stay in even my BA tank has slow small guys in it I would worry about her hurting so she has to go if y'all dont want her then shes goin to petsmart this weekend . I hate to do it I really do but I wont tolerate her harassin every one shes housed with . But Im not tryin to get one over on anyone either shes gorgeous like no other but shes a royal B word to go with her looks , the only thing I havent tried is adding a male for her to pair up with that may calm the situation but i dont know and am not gonna risk doubleing my problem . So let me know if you want her I'll trade her for a box with your adress on it ..

Lol Frank So y'all flip a coin or something let me know who gets her . Just remember that she is a trouble fish , I am asumeimg its due to spawning but am not certain its just the only natural explanation left untested by me .She could just be crazy i dont know but shes definatly mean to the point of kiling others fish shrimp and even frogs .
