Does anyone know a good medication thats copper free for ick / velvet and fin rot ? I want to find something that I can use in my community tank and all my meds have a copper content " good meds just not for inverts " And I dont want to have to remove all the inverts to another tak as I have shrimp with eggs right now and aside from that their is no way I would be able to get all the baby shrimp and snails out ..the waste levels from dead babbies would be worst than the fin rot is . My tank is salted though always so the rot may not show up at all I removed the fish with the fin rot as soon as I got home and seen it . Bt I know if it was in the water at all for any length of time then the tank got infected . Just dont know yet if the salt wil kill it before it takes hold of any other fish . In case it does Im looking for options now rather than later so I can have medication on hand if it does become a problem /.

You might be alright, Charlie. You got them out of your tank quickly. Your tank isn't going to feed the disease because I know your tanks are in good condition. Just to be safe, you might do a quick 50% water change and get as much gunk as you can out of the gravel. It's all caused by bad, dirty conditions that make the fish weak and stressed.

Hey Frank , I know your probably gonna get shocked by what Im about to say but ...I have never and dont ever vacum my sub ...I cant really . ..I have no room on the floor for the vacum to pick up with out up-rooting a plant , I have wonderd about this alot actually if its a bad or good thing . I know alot of folks are religious about the vacums but I cant get one in to the floor of my tank . An as well I can see stuff down in the gravel but my plants are useing that for fert aint they ? I mean wont my plants use the stuff that the vacum sux up ? Like I said I know its prolly strange but . I have alot of plants in my tank not alot of top water but alot of diffrent stuff grassy types and leafy stuff all on the floor as well as aonopog and dwarf lillys that go all the way up . Its a pain to remove a fish when I have to it ends up with a huge water change . Due to I cant move in their without hitting and pullin up something but I always thought the more plants the better more oxygen and natural filtration for my fishes . Would I be better off with less plants so I could vacum the sub ? I have plenty of tanks to divide plants among but if I do then I will have the same problem with the other tanks . My community is the problem tank way planted with dam near anything you can name lol as the other tanks are mainly species tanks as far as plants go one is a sword tank ones a ware onion and so on .

It's rare that I vacuum too. You probably don't have to do anything. Just thought a little house cleaning wouldn't hurt. It's better to have a ton of plants than to have room to vacuum.
