Hey y'all I have a problem . I am loseing guppys not one a day but close and its not just natures thining the herd either . I have lost a few of my strongest stock as well as a few of the smaller ones . All the while I have a handfull of deformed fry that I didnt have the haert to put down that are doing fine so you tell me ..... It started happening after I added the UV sterilizer to my tank . I mentioned this in another post , I have since removed it due to the deaths but I just dont understand it I was under the impression that the UV would strengthen my tank if anything not weaken it .. I have lost my most valuable and oldest male guppy " sonny" he will be missed for awhile as well we also lost his first female "sher" I know the names are corny but anyway we loved them and they were very healthy . No signs of disease are present in the other fish or them . I opened them up to see if their was dis-coloreation and seen nothing . Do you think its just maybe old age ? But if so why the others the young ones ? Any ideas would be apreciated IM worried . And why would the guppies die and the cichlids and bumble bee 's not ? I mean they are a much more sensative fish than the guppys right ?

It's really got me stumped I checked the water and all the results were great , as far as water conditions go the tank is heavan . I thought about everything Iadded recenly such as a new peice of mopani but its salt treated and the UV should have sterilized it . I talked with a freind at petsmart this girl I know that talks to me everytime I go in their I'm her Q&A for customers lol . She had a thought that kinda matched up ith one of my personal ideas, maybe the UV sterilizer had killed the beneficial bacteria as well as the bad bacteria and thrown my tank back into a kinda cycle ....could be I think it makes sence what you think ? As of today none died (yet).

The package should be more informative I really liked the results from the UV filter at first ..it cleared my foggy water up in a day and i mean it was crystal clear and still is . But you should only leave it in your tank for a day 2 at the absolute most . I will be placeing mine in my hospitol tank , I do have to give it a thumps up for working it just works to good it will kill ALL the bacteria in your tank lol so be carefull . If you get any kind of bacterial infection in one of your tanks though I would highly suggest the UV sterilizer at the first sign of it along with the medication of choice this should keep your tank from keeping the infection and it poping up later .
