My wife, Sharon, told me about a story she saw on a national news program reporting that the Lion Fish population in the North American coral reefs is exploding and that they have consumed 90% of the other tropical reef fish. Other parts of the world have not experienced this. Sure wonder what would cause this. I wouldn't think Lion Fish would have too many natural predators in any case. Any thoughts ?

Wonder if it has hit the saltwater aquarium fish prices yet. By the way, during my brief time with saltwater tanks, I really enjoyed anemones and clown fish. Peppermint Shrimp were also cool. Beginner stuff but, cool .

Wouldn't be surprised. It seems like if there's an area in the USA that people can screw up by being irresponsible, they will. Dump the fish and go get a python.

silly americans , glad I'm southern lol it feels like a diffrent country down here sometimes . That said you have a point , hell look at florida they have been forced to come up with a new division of animal control to deal with exotics that are released by ppl that just grew tierd of haveing the poor animals . I have put alot of thought into the idea of haveing a refuge for pets such as that I wonder if the goverment would give grants or commision that so i could do it for work ?

Not sure about grants but, governments are contracting out more and more services all the time. Between their built in inefficiency and the cost of benefits, governments are looking to get out of a lot of businesses. Hell, they even have private jails and prisons. It's worth investigating.
We're on the cusp here in Cincinnati. I live about 2 miles from Kentucky as the crow flies. People have always said Cincy is more like Atlanta than Chicago. People from Cleveland call us the capitol of Kentucky. We call Cleveland the mistake on the lake. Native Cincinnatians have just a touch of Appalachian in our accent, though most of us wouldn't say so. If I hear a recording of myself I think, boy I sound like I just fell off the turnip truck.
