Yo know the one thing about plant eating fish that i have a constant in my tanks .. The little terds eat the most challenging plant that I have , or my favorite wich ever they get to first . I have some reineckii and everytime I get a new bunch of it the fish tear it apart inside a day 3 tops its gone down to the roots ! It kills me cause they wont touch the ones I actually planted for them to eat that are suppose to taste good an tender and all that nooo they go after the hot pink hard to grow plant I am almost to the point of not replantin it any more , every red or purple anything gets eatin . The plant im crying about is " telanthera , cardinalis ( alternanthera reineckii ) to be specific if y'all wanna look it up an get an idea of what it is . Does this happen to anyone else ? If so what do your fish eat ? What do you plant for them to eat and what is doin the eating ? My guppys are the worst about eating my plants but the rest of the tank helps them . I would like to try to get something in their that they will be drawn to and stay away from my prize plant any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

I've always liked the way wisteria is "supposed" to look but, my fish keep it trimmed to the stalk. I blame the sharks. A guy on another site had tetras that wouldn't leave it alone either. Maybe you could entice them away from your nice plants with wisteria. Of course, as Byron would say, "Fish have evolved over thousands if not millions of years blah blah blah."

Lol , yep and mine have evolved into non wisteria eaters . I have 2 huge wisteria plants one on each side of my tank and in every other tank it was put in for them along with bacopa to be eatin but as i said noooo they dont like it I have strange fish that like to prove the normal wrong lol / I like wisteria for another reason also , some call it the canary for your tank , if it lives its okay if it dies or shows signs then check your water . The miners used a caged canary to tell them if the air was safe in the mines in the old days , thats where the refrence came from . lol I had to add that wonderfully usefull little addition ;D

yep wisteria is a great plant to keep for a water alert if you arent religous about water changes . It will grow super fast in good conditions and it will die just as fast in bad ones .
