Awsome choices Frank !! I still have your trimmings ready to ship this friday , you still want them dont ya ? I can help you with info on your plants if you want .. like the lighting that each preffers and ph as well as temp and type of nutrients . I am a walking botanical dictionary lol lets see now 1.-Red tiger lotus -( nymphaea lotus zenkeri "red" this is an easy one you should do very well with , it flowers too its a flowering water lilly but it takes alot of nutri to get it to flower . Root tabs as well as liquid fert . it will grow and do fine without it but it wont flower with out it . 2.-crypt ciliata- this one is diffrent than the other crypts it likes hard water and bright light . 3. Narrow leaf anacharis- I am only familiar with one type of anacharis (elodea canadensis) its fast growing and easy to but , it prefers cold water . And is also a hardwater plant and something cool about it is that it will do fine in brackish water to . This plant doesnt need any nutri at all not tabs or liquid , only special tip i can give is you need to cut the top off when its a few inches tall this will make it get bushy every time it grows up to a certain point trim the top off you can replant the top also for a new plant ! 4.Baby tears ( hemianthus callitrichoides ) this is the smallest of all the aquatic plants ! Did ya know that ? lol It likes the nutri out of all your plants this is the one that needs the most nutri actually it also needs cO2 if at all possible to really get to its full potential . 5.Hair grass- I have only had dwarf but i assume its the same , it likes bright light and moderately soft to hard water . 6. moss - well you know it will be fine with water thats about all it needs to do great just water lol if you have any questions about plants i will be more than happy to help .

Thats what we use fr all our shipping , it's great you can get a number of diffrent ized boxes to pick from and it can weigh up to 70 lbs . I mean what aside from rocks can even come close to that kinda weight ? lol and it would actually take a fairly large number of rocks to weigh that much . Anyway back to what yo were saying about the box the if it fits it ships s a good way to go . And the rices aint bad they aint great cheap bu they aint bd high either . And IM glad you still want the plants i ben keeping them I got Dan 's cuttings to .

I have onion bulbs planted in a tank right now , I thought they would make a great back drop for a tank decorated with big rocks in my opinion they are the best looking plant for rock tanks . But that being said I havent had luck this time with mine ... might be a bad batch of bulbs but its hard to tell when you plant from bulbs cause it can take so long for them to sprout . I have had some take over 4 months just to sprout ! so its hell to say for sure when one is bad cause of the time line it can take . I went way into left field sorry , um no i would say im not personally sucessfull with the onions but i can give you the info on what i have on the plant , maybe if you had the plant as a sprout it would be helpfull lol i would advise aginst bulbs i never can get them to grow and i usually do great with bulbs all my aponageton come from bulb .

Well, the new plants are finally arriving on Friday. Seems like forever. I'm having last minute second thoughts on where to put them. Guess I'll have to see them "in person" to finally decide.

I know exactly how you feel or what you mean rather lol . My wife told me as soon as I got my new tanks settled and all my plants an fish in them that I could go online and get a few new things for them well....I got the allowance on a card she gave me to spend got the computer turned on and started the search proccess ( wich can take me weeks ) and in less than 5 min she pointed out " just where exactly are you planing to put whatever it is your wanting "? lol She had a point but Im not giving up I am gonna get something new dang it lol . I have talked myself down to a reasonable choice though I think , A pair of cichlids maybe 2 pair .. and one new plant that gows in substrate and one that floats on top . That being said you got any suggestions for a new cichlid that can be in a community tank with other fish ? Im kinda focusin on the blue acara but I dont wanna be to hasty Im still looking I love the south / central american cichlids colors . And the fact that most of them even the aggressive ones can be put in with other fish as long as the fish are of equal size and temperment of course . I have decided on port cichlid I think just not wich port , And google an bing arent just over flowing with links for the port cichlids in particular and most of my favorite sites to buy from dont have very much to choose from in the port catigory either . I really like cichlid store . com and liveaquaria . com both sites are really good usually price wise and selection . If you like cichlids you should check out the cichlid store it is really wild they have so many diffrent ones alot that I have never heard of and cant find anywhere and some of the most amazing colorations ever.

Were you still thinking about the blood parrots ? They're supposed to be good in a community tank with similar sized tank mates. Man, it's been a long time since I heard about the port cichlid. I remember wanting them as a kid but, I could never find them. As I remember, they are supposed to be very mild mannered for a cichlid. Another one was the keyhole cichlid...couldn't find those either. Back in those horse an buggy days you either found them in the stores or went without. Do you like festivums ? They are different looking and have the temperament of angel fish. I don't know about behaviour but, I always wanted a Texas cichlid because I thought it would be cool to have a cichlid from the USA. You've got that new stuff fever, Charlie. I can sense it. Have fun.

OK. I have the 55 all ready for the new plants. I've followed Charlie's instructions about substrate and ferts to a tee. Of course, it will be his fault if I fail. If I am wildly successful, it will be my research and hard work that made it happen :-)

You know, I've never seen java moss in person. Does it have a beginning and end ? Is it obvious as to where you should anchor it ?
